Everyone loves a baby picture, right? A special image of the little one all dressed in their little outfit and wrapped in a soft blanket is the first baby picture that most will see. Parents, however, often get to see an even earlier photo thanks to the remarkable technology of ultrasound at The inside Story Ultrasound!
The procedure is not painful and involves applying a cool gel to your stomach. At that time, a handheld device called a transducer is rubbed across the gel. Renderings of your baby will display on a several screens – one attached to the ultrasound machine itself, one opposite the ultrasound for your guests, and a large monitor on the front of the procedure bed for you. At first, the images provided may be a confusing collage to you, but we see something very different! When the transducer is in the perfect location and the baby is in a good position, beautiful images are produced! Once our sonographer shows you realistic pictures of your baby, you’ll be overcome with joy!
Elective ultrasounds are fun, but can also be an important part of prenatal care. While an elective ultrasound should NEVER take the place of the necessary diagnostic ultrasound(s) provided by your doctor, we can sometimes detect potential problems that were missed during a previous session. Among them, improper positioning of your baby, a cleft palate, or an irregular heartbeat can be diagnosed. In addition to showing beautiful images, ultrasounds also allow you to hear baby’s heartbeat.
At the end of the session, the sonographer will save the video and the best images – these are terrific keepsakes that can be taken home and shared with family and friends.
While ultrasounds are a necessary part of caring for an unborn child and monitoring his/her placement and health, it also provides parents with a way to get a glimpse of their unborn child. Please note: Ultrasounds should only be performed by your physician, or by a licensed, registered sonographer in a professional setting! To maintain our stature at The inside Story ltrasound, we only employ Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and ARDMS-eligible technicians, are uninterrupted members in good standing of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, and our facility is in an easily accessible medical office, not crammed in an unsafe mall or strip center. All our sonographers have been through rigorous training specifically designed for 3D/4D ultrasound, know the bioeffects considerations for diagnostic ultrasound, and adhere to all intensity parameters. It is a little-known fact that the techniques used as an operator in the 3D/4D mode are much different than those of planar or layered ultrasound. While an operator may have years of experience in traditional 2D medical sonography, they may be unable to give you the best images in the 3D/4D format.
